There are those among us who are drawn to the thrill.  Roller coaster rides and bungee jumping and extreme sports and relationship drama.

But even for those of us who like to keep our feet on the ground, it is easy to get pulled in to the inevitable ups and downs of our own successes and struggles.

When things are going well, we are flying high.  But there is a flip side to the adrenaline rush.  A progression as predictable as the sunrise and the sunset.  It is the cycle of elation and depression.  We pay for our highs by spending time slogging through our lows.

There is another option for us.  A middle path of abiding joy and equanimity.

A book of wisdom offers this quote for our consideration:

Praise and blame, gain and loss,
pleasure and sorrow
Come like the wind.
To be happy
Rest like a great tree
in the midst of them all.

May we be rooted and grounded in that which is unshakable in our lives so that we are not blown about by the winds of our ever- changing emotional landscapes.

Have a good week everyone!
