Barbara Kingsolver wrote, “Be still, and the world is bound to turn herself inside out to entertain you.  Everywhere you look, joyful noise is clanging to drown out quiet desperation.”  There is a reason that we find references to the power of stillness and being in nature in everything from poetry to the scriptures of virtually every faith tradition.

Back in 1991, a movie titled Grand Canyon  came out in theaters.  It followed the lives of several people in California from different walks of life and the struggles that they encountered.  The movie culminates with the whole group of them driving out to the Grand Canyon.  As they stand at one of those awe-inspiring look-outs, everyone becomes very quiet.  You can see them take in the grandeur and immensity of the sight before them and somehow, without saying a word, it puts things in perspective.

May we still our busy, worrying minds and open our eyes to the joyful wonders around us this week.

Have a great week, everyone!
