Have you ever seen someone looking for their reading glasses when they are sitting right there on their head? Here they are rummaging through their purse or brief case, searching every flat surface in the house, running out to the car to see if they left them there; when the whole time their glasses were perched happily on top of their head.
This seems very analogous to me of how we are when it comes to peace of mind as well. When we begin to worry and ruminate about things we feel as though our peace of mind is something important that we have misplaced. If only we could find it! But no matter where we look, it eludes us. We might begin to hope that if a situation resolves itself or a problem is solved, we will find peace again.
Here is the good news. It’s right there in the quiet chambers of your soul. It hasn’t been lost, and it is readily available to us even in the midst of difficult circumstances. All we need to do is quiet the noise and chatter in our busy minds like parting the branches of a tree blocking entrance to a secret garden.
Wishing you a centered and peaceful week!
