National Hospice and Palliative Care month helps us to recognize that hospice care not only is a gift to those who receive it, but to the entire community. Walking with those who are facing life-limiting illness helps to refocus our attention on what matters most. This quote from actor, Brad Pitt illustrates the point:
I had a friend who worked at hospice, and he said that people in their final moments don’t discuss their successes,
awards or what books they wrote or what they accomplished.
They only talk about their loves and their regrets.
And I think that’s very telling.
May we live our lives today in such a way that when we are in our final moments, we are free from regrets and surrounded by people who love and care for us.
Have a great week, everyone!
