Teaming Up
Many business and community groups have found it fun and rewarding to volunteer and support our mission. Here’s a look at some of last year’s group projects:
Employees of Priority One Financial Services, Inc. in St. Petersburg worked together organizing spaces and merchandise at the St. Pete resale shoppe, which benefits the care and services provided by Empath Health. The company’s staff has supported organizations of their choosing as part of their longtime Give Thanks program.
“We give our employees four Fridays off to serve. It gives them a chance to see what’s out there in the community. It’s always engaging and leaves us feeling like we want to do more,” said Lorraine Mariotti, V.P. of Lending who volunteered with the group.
Joining together to re-stain the north Pinellas care center boardwalk enjoyed by patients and families were members of a life group of the newly-established Church Experience in Clearwater. The church’s 13 life groups carried out mission projects for organizations in the community.
Chuck Fonshell, Sr., who helped arrange and volunteered with the project, shared, “It’s a very valuable service you provide. It was a blessing for us all to serve your organization.”
Serving together for two years making blankets and butterflies that comfort the St. Pete care center patients and families are the Columbiettes of St. Jude in St. Petersburg. The group’s ladies do acts of charity and good will for several causes.
“We like the work you do. It’s good that you’re there in people’s time of need. We think having something soft and warm as a blanket is comforting and a nice personal memory for families to take with them. We try to give as much as we can. I enjoy what we do,” said Johanne Howard, a member and past president of the group.
